Christopher spent two weeks last summer shooting up and down and all around the Yucatan for Costa Sunglasses. The fruits of some of his labor are just starting to be seen on billboards, posters, trucks and in-store signage. Christopher loves it.
Christopher just learned he was a Platinum Winner (as well as a Gold Winner) in the new Graphis 100 Best In Photography Annual. He received Platinum for his "Blind Soldier" Series. You can see one of the images above, just below the nude image of Albert Watson - one of Christopher's heroes. Christopher is thrilled beyond belief.
One of Christopher's "Blind Soldier" images is featured in Graphis' new Special Promotion for their 100 Best In Photography 2012 Publication. His series of soldier images, of course, will be in the book. Christopher is honored and thrilled. To be mentioned in the same sentence with the likes of Albert Watson - one of Christopher's heroes - well, it's quite heady stuff for Christopher.
Christopher's photograph of a woman releasing hundreds of balloons was just purchased to be the cover image for a new book from an Italian publishing company. Bellissima!
While Christopher has had the opportunity to be a director/DP on a number of spots in the last few years, Christopher considers these recent spots for a jewelry company his coming-out party as a director and DP."SUNFLOWERS," the first of two spots was shot using the Phantom at 1000 fps. To create a more organic sensibility, everything was filmed practically - the acrobats bounced on a trampoline that was camouflaged in the sunflowers, and all the subtle distortions in the film were created with old found glass clamped in front of the lens. In post, we simply reversed the film to get the feeling of someone "floating up into air."
While Christopher has had the opportunity to be a director/DP on a number of spots in the last few years, Christopher considers these recent spots for a jewelry company his coming out party as a director and DP. Shot a few weeks ago in Maryland, they will be true extension of his work and aesthetic sensibilities as a stills photographer. Shot with the Phantom at 1000 fps, the film is truly magical. Christopher can't wait to see it all come together - in the next month or so.
